Michelmore was educated at the independent St John's School in Leatherhead, Surrey.

News presenter

Michelmore began reporting on Anglia TV's About Anglia before joining the BBC programme Newsroom South East in 1993. Guy left the programme to be replaced by Tim Ewart from ITN. His mother was Jean Metcalfe the BBC presenter of Two Way Family Favourites and Woman's Hour. His father is Cliff Michelmore, television presenter and producer, best known for the BBC television programme Tonight. Cliff once interviewed himself, and asked whether either his son or daughter had shown any interest in television - Cliff answered by saying that ten year-old Guy was "at that point where he is fascinated and interested in all things...even his father's job!"

He famously spilt his drink all over himself and his desk before going into a live link on Newsroom South East, later shown on the BBC's Auntie's Bloomers out-takes show.

Composer

After leaving the BBC, Michelmore continued his career as a composer for television and films. He won the award for Best Music at the International Wildlife Film Festival for "Tale of the Tides", nominated for a Wildscreen Award for "Mzima: Haunt of the River Horse" and "Queen of Trees". He also won the Slate Award for Best Score for the UK feature film “Fly Fishing”. He has more recently scored films for Marvel and Lionsgate including The Invincible Iron Man, Ultimate Avengers (film) and Ultimate Avengers 2, Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme and Hulk Vs. He also created the music for the EMMY Award winning series Tutenstein and Growing Up Creepie. He is currently writing the music for the upcoming animated Marvel movie Planet Hulk. [1]
